Green balls of goodness

These super balls are the perfect go to snack for an afternoon pick me up. They will cure any sweet cravings while also giving you a good dose of protein, healthy fats and nutrients.

I like to take mine to work for an afternoon treat with a big cup of green tea. They are also handy to pop into your handbag when your out for the day, helping you avoid buying any snacks loaded with nasties.

These balls are made with a super greens blend of spirulina, chlorella, barley grass and wheat grass but any combination of these or just Spirulina would be fine. These nutrient dense green superfoods are easily absorbed by your body and contain high amounts of chlorophyll, fibre, protein and magnesium.

Super green balls

Ingredients

1 C fresh dates (pitted, soaked in water for at least 30 minutes)

1 1/4 C raw almonds

1 T spirulina powder, or a mix of super greens

2 t almond essence

2 t cinnamon

2 T coconut oil

Method

Place the almonds in a food processor and process until a course flour, you still want some crunch! Drain the dates and add to the processor along with all the rest of the ingredients. Process for roughly 1 minute, you want the mix to be sticky enough to roll into balls. If needed, add 1-2 T of water. Now roll these into even sized balls, I usually get about 20 balls from this mix.

They are best kept in the freezer and taken out 5-10 minutes before eating.
